Occasionally, circumstances make it necessary for students to test late. To preserve the security of AP Exams, alternate versions of the exams are used for late testing. All students who participate in late testing at a given school must take these alternate exams on the scheduled late-testing dates at the scheduled times.
Early testing or testing at times other than those published by College Board is not permitted under any circumstances.
AP exams are administered at your school or at a designated testing center if your school doesn't offer the exam. AP coordinators are responsible for notifying students when and where to report for the exams.
We recommend checking with your school's AP coordinator well in advance to confirm your test location and arrival time.
The cost of taking an AP exam varies, but is typically around $98 per exam for the 2024-2025 school year (subject to change). Students who demonstrate financial need may be eligible for a fee reduction.
Registration for AP exams is typically handled through your school. Most schools require students to register for AP exams in the fall, though specific deadlines vary by school.
For more information on AP exam fees and registration, consult with your school's AP coordinator or visit the College Board's AP Exam Fees page.
AP scores are typically released in July. You can access your scores online through your College Board account.
If you have two exams scheduled for the same time slot, you will take one exam during the regularly scheduled time and the other during the late-testing period. Speak with your AP coordinator to make these arrangements.
You should bring several sharpened No. 2 pencils, black or dark blue ink pens, a watch (without internet access), and a calculator for specific exams. Check the College Board website for a complete list of what to bring for each specific exam.
