Try the TOEFL Speaking Test Engine

A short Speaking section in the same test engine our full TOEFL practice tests use: seven Listen and Repeat sentences with their scene, then a four-question interview. Your microphone records each answer in the browser, and the report plays your recordings beside the rubric and model answers.

Free Speaking demo: 11 responses, about 7 minutes

You need: A microphone and speakers or headphones, in Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. The browser will ask for microphone access.

No sign-up. The demo runs in your browser, and your recordings stay on your device; nothing is uploaded.

The test frame is built for a computer screen, like the real TOEFL, which you take on a computer. On a phone it switches to a stacked layout. You can still start the demo here, or open this page on a laptop for the full view.

Audio in these samples uses AI-generated voices.

What’s in the Speaking demo

The demo is a short Speaking section with the same screens, rules and score report as our full-length tests. These are its tasks:

TOEFL Speaking demo tasks
TaskWhat you doResponses
Listen and RepeatHear a media tutor describe a stop-motion animation station and repeat each of 7 sentences, with 8 to 12 seconds to respond.7
Take an InterviewAnswer 4 interview questions about making instructions easier to follow, with 45 seconds for each answer.4

Screen by screen

  1. A hardware check plays a test tone and records a 5-second sample so you can hear your microphone.
  2. Listen and Repeat shows a scene that highlights the part each sentence is about. Recording starts as soon as the sentence ends, with no preparation time.
  3. Take an Interview plays each question from the interviewer, then records your answer for up to 45 seconds while a response clock counts down.
  4. Each recording is saved in your browser before the next question begins. You cannot go back to an earlier question.

How the demo is scored

Speaking responses are not given an automated score in the demo or in the full product. The report plays each of your recordings with the sentence or question you heard, the scoring rubric and its practice bands, and model answers (recorded model responses for the interview) so you can compare.

The demo’s report covers only these questions. It is practice feedback, not an official TOEFL score or band.

What the full TOEFL practice tests add

The demo is a slice of the real product. With the Test Ninjas TOEFL plan you get this engine with 5 full-length practice tests and 32 section tests in the 2026 format, plus the full course of 41 lessons that teaches each task type, with guided practice on these same task screens.
