A short Writing section in the same test engine our full TOEFL practice tests use: three Build a Sentence items, then Write an Email with the real 7-minute timer and editing toolbar. The report scores the sentences and shows the rubric and a model email for your response.

Free Writing demo: 4 responses, about 10 minutes
You need: A keyboard and a mouse or trackpad. The email task has a 7-minute timer.
No sign-up. The demo runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
The test frame is built for a computer screen, like the real TOEFL, which you take on a computer. On a phone it switches to a stacked layout. You can still start the demo here, or open this page on a laptop for the full view.
What’s in the Writing demo
The demo is a short Writing section with the same screens, rules and score report as our full-length tests. These are its tasks:
Write an email about a consent form that bundles two choices, covering three required points in 7 minutes.
1
Screen by screen
Build a Sentence shows two speakers. Drag tiles into the blanks of the reply; some words are fixed and one item has an extra tile.
Back and Next move between the three sentences.
Write an Email shows the situation on the left and your editor on the right, with Cut, Paste, Undo, Redo and a word count. The clock counts down 7 minutes.
Leaving the email early asks you to confirm, because you cannot return to it. When time runs out, the response is saved as it is.
How the demo is scored
Build a Sentence is scored automatically: the report shows your sentence and the correct one. Your email is not given an automated score. The report places it next to the task’s scoring rubric, what a strong response must do, and a model email, so you can judge it the way a rater would.
The demo’s report covers only these questions. It is practice feedback, not an official TOEFL score or band.
What the full TOEFL practice tests add
The demo is a slice of the real product. With the Test Ninjas TOEFL plan you get this engine with 5 full-length practice tests and 32 section tests in the 2026 format, plus the full course of 41 lessons that teaches each task type, with guided practice on these same task screens. Reading and Listening are scored instantly; Writing and Speaking come with the rubric and model answers to compare against.

No. Neither the demo nor the full product gives writing an automated score. After the demo you see your email next to the scoring rubric, the points a strong response must cover, and a model answer to compare against.
Yes. The email task uses the engine’s timed setting of 7 minutes. When it reaches zero your text is kept and the section moves on.
Drag each word or phrase into a blank. Drag a placed word to another blank or back to the word list to change it. Each item is scored as correct only when the whole sentence is in an accepted order.
About 10 minutes: a few minutes for three sentences, then up to 7 minutes for the email.
No. The demo runs in your browser. Your text is not uploaded, and closing the tab clears it.
