Arizona State University does not require the SAT or ACT for fall 2027 applicants, and it does not publish a middle 50% SAT or ACT range for its first-year class. Its 2025–26 Common Data Set leaves the test score section blank. For the fall 2025 entering class, ASU admitted 88.4% of the 69,617 first-year applicants to its in-person campuses, including Tempe.
Without a published middle 50%, the best read on your odds comes from your whole profile: GPA, courses, activities and any scores you have.
The rule for students applying now, for fall 2027 entry.
ASU does not require the SAT or ACT for first-year admission; a qualifying score is one of several ways to meet its aptitude requirement, along with class rank or GPA in required courses.

ASU's admissions site says SAT and ACT scores are not required, but you may send them for course placement or as extra information. To be admitted, you need the required high school courses plus one of three aptitude measures: a rank in the top quarter of your graduating class, at least a B average (unweighted) in the required courses, or an ACT or SAT score at or above ASU's published minimum, which is higher for nonresidents. Students who meet none of these may still be reviewed individually. Some majors set higher aptitude requirements, so check your program's page. Most course requirements can also be met with test scores or college courses. ASU lets you self-report grades and scores, and official scores must come straight from ACT or College Board.
Arizona State University reports SAT section scores but no total range.
ASU does not report SAT percentiles for its entering class. The test score section of its 2025–26 Common Data Set is blank, and its federal admissions report lists no SAT ranges either. Its only public SAT figure is an average for full-time first-year students in a separate federal consumer report, which is not a middle 50% range.
For most applicants, the SAT matters here as one route to admission, not as a ranking tool. If your class rank or your grades in the required courses already meet ASU's aptitude standard, an SAT score is not needed for admission. If they don't, a score at or above ASU's minimum is another way to qualify. ASU also uses SAT scores for course placement and academic advising.
Before you decide, look up your intended major. Some ASU programs have higher aptitude requirements than the university's general standard.

Arizona State University publishes no ACT range.
ASU publishes no ACT percentile range for its entering class either. Its CDS and its federal admissions report give no ACT figures, and its consumer report gives only an average composite for full-time first-year students.
The ACT works the same way as the SAT at ASU. A composite at or above the published minimum, which is higher for nonresidents, meets the aptitude requirement on its own, and ACT scores can also be used for course placement. If you must show English proficiency and completed your junior and senior years in a U.S. high school, a qualifying ACT English or SAT Reading and Writing score is one of the listed exemptions.

ASU uses rolling admission and has no Early Decision or Early Action plan. It sets a priority admission date in the fall and a later regular admission date, so check ASU's admissions site for this cycle's dates. The general application has no essay.
There is no published score range to aim for at Arizona State University. A practical goal is to meet or beat ASU's minimum ACT or SAT score for your residency, and your major's requirement if it is higher, in case your class rank or grades don't qualify you on their own. If your grades and rank already meet the standard, send scores only if you want them used for placement or as extra information.
In ASU's 2025–26 Common Data Set, academic GPA is the most important factor for general admission. The rigor of your high school record and your class rank are important, and test scores are considered. Essays, recommendations and activities are not considered for general admission, though some programs ask for more. Meeting the course and aptitude requirements is the main thing to plan around.
