Binghamton follows SUNY's decision to suspend SAT and ACT requirements, and its admissions committee reviews applications with or without scores. On the Common App, Coalition App or SUNY application, you check yes or no for having scores included in your review, and you cannot change that choice after you submit. Most applicants can self-report scores and send official reports only if they enroll; athletes, international students and students living outside the U.S. must have scores sent officially by the testing agency. Binghamton combines your highest section scores from multiple sittings of the same test, but it never mixes SAT and ACT sections. The ACT writing and science sections and the SAT essay are not required. Some joint early assurance programs do require SAT or ACT scores.

If you choose to send scores to Binghamton for fall 2027, a practical target is an SAT at or above 1410 or an ACT at or above 33, and 1480 or 34 puts you in the top quarter of enrolled submitters. If your scores fall well below 1320 or 31, you can apply without them: Binghamton says it reviews applications with or without scores, and invitations to its honors programs consider all admitted students either way.
Binghamton says the high school transcript is still the most important part of the application. It also reviews your essay, activities and one teacher or counselor recommendation, and it looks for students who challenge themselves in and out of the classroom. Interviews are not required. BFA and BMus applicants in the School of the Arts also submit a portfolio and, if invited, audition.
