University of Georgia SAT & ACT Scores

UGA has required official SAT or ACT scores since students entering in 2022, when the University System of Georgia brought back its testing requirement. Every first-year and dual enrollment applicant must send official scores from either test, and UGA applies the Board of Regents minimum section scores, which the typical admitted student exceeds by a wide margin. UGA superscores both tests but never mixes them, so an SAT Math score won't be paired with an ACT English score.

For the fall 2025 entering class, the middle 50% of enrolled first-years who reported the SAT scored 1250–1420. The 25th percentile was 1250, the median was 1330 and the 75th percentile was 1420. In Reading and Writing the range was 610–710, and in Math it was 630–720.

70% of enrolled first-years submitted SAT scores. Because UGA requires testing, the range describes nearly the whole class, not just students who chose to share good scores.

UGA combines your highest Reading and Writing and highest Math scores from different SAT dates, and lower scores from other dates never count against you. A superscore at or above 1330 puts you in the upper half of enrolled students; one at or above 1420 puts you in the top quarter.

Among enrolled first-years who sent the ACT, the middle 50% composite was 27–33, with a median of 31. The English range was 27–34 and the Math range was 26–31. 44% of enrolled students submitted ACT scores, and some sent both tests.

UGA builds a superscored ACT composite from your best English, Math and Reading scores, but its admission review focuses on English and Math. That makes those two section scores more important here than the composite alone. You can also send the official ACT superscore report, which UGA accepts.

There are two non-binding ways to apply: Early Action and Regular Decision. Both go through the same review, and there is no Early Decision round. Test scores must be taken and requested by the materials deadline for the round you choose.

A good target for UGA is an SAT superscore at or above 1420 or an ACT at or above 33. Since you must send scores either way, plan test dates so that your best sitting is taken and requested before your round's materials deadline. If you use the ACT, put extra effort into English and Math.

UGA is clear that a high SAT or ACT score will not make up for a non-competitive GPA. Your three to three-and-a-half years of rigorous coursework are the primary focus, and UGA looks closely at how many challenging courses you take beyond the required high school curriculum. Treat scores as a supporting piece, with your transcript doing most of the work.
