There is no test-optional path at Georgia Tech. You must submit either an SAT or an ACT score; sending both is allowed but not required. The ACT writing section and the SAT essay are not required. AP, IB and A-Level results are optional, and the Classic Learning Test can be added as extra information but does not replace the SAT or ACT. Georgia Tech recommends self-reporting scores in the Common App testing section or through a form in its admission portal, and it will not use scores listed on a school transcript. Official scores are needed only if you enroll. Georgia Tech uses your highest section scores across sittings: Reading and Writing plus Math on the SAT, and English, Math and Reading on the ACT. The University System of Georgia reinstated test requirements at Georgia Tech for 2022 admission, and the requirement has stayed in place.

Georgia Tech does not offer Early Decision. It has two non-binding Early Action rounds, one for Georgia students and a later one for students from outside Georgia, plus Regular Decision. Students who want to be considered for merit scholarships must apply Early Action.

Georgia Tech says tests are only one of many factors in its holistic review. Your transcript, course choices, essays and activities all count, and Georgia residents and non-residents apply in separate Early Action rounds.
