Middlebury adopted test-optional admissions in April 2020 as a trial, starting with students applying for fall 2021, and in June 2023 extended the pilot for three more years. Its current application instructions still list standardized tests as optional. If you send scores, you can have them sent officially or self-report them, and you don't need to include the ACT Science section. Students who apply without scores are given full and equal consideration. Scores self-reported through the Common App don't show in the application PDF, but Middlebury says it will see them if you check the box asking for them to be considered.
