Late testing is for students who can't test during the first two weeks of May or who have two exams scheduled at the same time. Late-testing exams are alternate versions of the regular exams, and every late-testing student at a school takes them at the published dates and times. Early testing is not allowed.

Your AP coordinator orders late-testing exams. Schools in the U.S. must order them by May 14, 2027, and schools outside the U.S. by May 4, 2027, so tell your coordinator about a conflict as soon as you see it.
At most schools, including every school in the lower 48 states, Hawaii, and Washington, D.C., AP Exams begin at:
Starting with the 2027 exams, the College Board changed the start times in some other locations so that secure exam content can't be shared across time zones. If your school is anywhere else, confirm your start times with your AP coordinator. Your coordinator also tells you when and where to report, so plan to arrive early.
These courses need work submitted as final in the AP Digital Portfolio. Every deadline is 11:59 p.m. ET.
| Deadline | Course | What's due |
|---|---|---|
| April 30, 2027 | AP Seminar and AP Research | Performance tasks |
| April 30, 2027 | AP Computer Science Principles | Create performance task |
| April 30, 2027 | AP World Languages and Cultures | Personalized Project Reference (new for 2027) |
| May 7, 2027 | AP Art and Design | All 3 portfolio components |
You don't register for AP Exams with the College Board yourself. You sign up through your school, and your AP coordinator orders the exams. These are the College Board's deadlines for the 2027 exams, and your school may set earlier ones:
| Date | What happens |
|---|---|
| November 13, 2026 | Final deadline to order exams for full-year and fall-semester courses (11:59 p.m. ET). Orders after it carry a $40 late fee per exam, with some exceptions. |
| March 12, 2027 | Deadline to order exams for spring-semester courses and to change fall orders (11:59 p.m. ET). |
| May 14, 2027 | Deadline for U.S. schools to order late-testing exams (May 4 outside the U.S.). |
| July 2027 | 2027 AP scores released. The exact day hasn't been announced yet. |
