Michigan formally adopted test-optional admissions for students applying for the winter 2025 term and later, after a test-flexible policy that began in June 2020. The university says it will review the policy on an ongoing basis. A question on the application asks whether you want your SAT or ACT considered, and applicants who apply without scores are not penalized. AP scores, IB grades and other international results are considered with your academic record either way. Early Action applicants are reviewed under their first answer to that question, while postponed Early Action and Regular Decision applicants can change their choice before February. You can self-report scores; enrolled students send official scores later.
