MCAT Registration: How to Book and What It Costs
Book your MCAT with the right account, ID and test date. Compare 2027 fees, check change deadlines, and confirm that your appointment is secured.
How to register for the MCAT
- Recover your existing AAMC account first. Use the same AAMC ID you already have. If you cannot sign in, recover the username or password instead of creating a second identity. Complete the contact, background and education questions before you start searching for a seat. AAMC account guidance.
- Compare your registration name with your test-day ID. Check the first and last name, including any difference between a preferred name and the name on the ID you plan to present. Resolve a mismatch before booking around a tight deadline. Consult the official name and ID rules for your situation.
- Choose a test date using its release date. Start with the 2027 MCAT calendar, then check the score release lookup. Write down both dates. A test before an application deadline is not useful if its score arrives after the school needs it.
- Search for a realistic center and time. Compare travel, lodging if needed, and your preparation schedule. Seats are first come, first served; availability at a nearby center may differ. If you need accommodations, follow the AAMC accommodations process before assuming an ordinary appointment meets your needs.
- Complete payment and verify the booking. Save the confirmation, then compare its date and location with your account. AAMC says confirmation should arrive within 24 hours; an absent confirmation needs attention. A payment screen or an unfinished browser tab is not your appointment record. MCAT registration fees for 2027
The international supplement applies outside the United States, Canada and U.S. territories. Check AAMC’s current fee schedule before payment. Fee Assistance is not retroactive; review the Fee Assistance Program before booking if you may qualify.
Rescheduling and cancellation: compare the total cost
The final change deadline is 10 days before testing, at 11:59 p.m. in the test center’s local time. Rescheduling and international fees are nonrefundable. These are AAMC’s change and refund rules; confirm the specific deadline shown for your appointment.
Example: changing a standard booking 40 days ahead
A $110 rescheduling charge brings a $360 base booking to $470 before taxes or other charges. Cancelling for a $180 refund and buying another $360 seat would instead total $540. Compare both paths before clicking cancel, and check that the new seat is actually available. Neither calculation includes travel costs you may also lose.
If the booking does not look right
After booking, plan a sustainable study routine around your available weeks. Use the mixed MCAT practice questions to identify content gaps, then the CARS passage bank for focused reading work. These short sets support skill review; they do not replace a full-length readiness check.
