UConn has let first-year applicants decide whether to submit test scores since the class that entered in fall 2021. The policy began as a pilot and was extended, and UConn now says applicants will have that choice for the foreseeable future. If you want scores considered, UConn requires official scores sent directly from the testing agency. It superscores both the SAT and ACT, combining your highest section scores from different test dates. For the ACT, it recalculates your composite from your best section scores, leaving out science. The writing and science sections are not required or used.

Only 35% of enrolled first-year students submitted SAT scores, so most of the class was admitted without them. The range describes students who chose to send scores, not the whole class. UConn's admissions pages show a higher range for admitted students who sent scores. That figure covers everyone admitted, while this one covers only students who enrolled.
Because UConn superscores, your best Reading and Writing score and your best Math score can come from different test dates. A superscore at or above 1350 puts you in the upper half of enrolled students who submitted the SAT.

Most enrolled students did not submit the SAT or ACT, so if your best scores fall well below the range, applying without them is a normal choice here.
UConn's Common Data Set lists test scores as one factor it considers, alongside the rigor of your high school courses, your GPA, class rank, essay, recommendations, activities, talents, and character. Some programs add their own steps: Nursing applicants answer an extra question, and several Fine Arts majors require an audition or portfolio.
